Volunteer for AKEW
Help make Alaska's biggest entrepreneurship event a success
AKEW has zero paid staff. Every event coordinated, every email sent, every community reached is the result of volunteers contributing their time and skills. Volunteering for AKEW is direct participation in building Alaska’s entrepreneurial infrastructure.
What Volunteers Do
Volunteer roles map directly to how AKEW delivers its mission:
Showcase What Exists
Help build and maintain the event calendar, organization directory, and resource library. Roles include content coordination, data entry, outreach to organizations, and website support.
Fill the Gaps
Recruit event hosts in underserved topics and regions. Identify what is missing from the calendar and connect with organizations that can fill those gaps. Roles include event recruitment, speaker liaison, and regional outreach.
Deliver It Everywhere
Work alongside City Leads and City Co-Leads who host and produce events across 7+ regions. Help with logistics, communications, social media, photography, and on-the-ground coordination during the week.
Website and Content
The website, marketing materials, and related content are volunteer-built and maintained. Contributions are welcome at any level: fixing a broken link, correcting outdated copy, improving a page, or building new sections. If something is broken, unclear, or missing, email contact@akew.org with subject line “Website.” No formal process required.
Time Commitment
Flexible. Some roles require 1-3 hours per week in the months before AKEW. Others are concentrated during the week itself (8-15 hours). Year-round, before-AKEW, during-AKEW, and after-AKEW options are all available.
