AKEW is an open platform. Anyone with something valuable to share can host an event: a workshop, a panel, a meetup, a pitch competition, or a networking session. Virtual events reach entrepreneurs in communities where in-person programming does not exist. In-person events build local connections that last beyond the week.
What AKEW Provides (at No Cost)
AKEW handles the coordination and promotion so event hosts can focus on content:
- Listing on the statewide event calendar with full promotion across web, email, and social channels
- Scheduling coordination to minimize conflicts with other events during the week
- Statewide brand visibility alongside Alaska SBDC, Junior Achievement, SBA, and other partners
- Connection to the region’s City Lead or Co-Lead for local coordination and support
Who Hosts Events?
Business support organizations, chambers of commerce, banks, nonprofits, government agencies, universities, and individual entrepreneurs. Last year, 50+ organizations across Alaska contributed events. The content ranges from practical workshops (business entity selection, loan applications, AI tools) to networking mixers and pitch competitions.
Event Quality Tiers
AKEW uses three event tiers to help attendees understand what to expect. Events that meet criteria for actionable content, qualified presenters, and structured feedback earn Featured status. Events from established organizations are labeled Partner. Grassroots events organized by community members are labeled Community. All tiers are welcome. All tiers are promoted.
